Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Giving Smarter Guide
SPARC and Tambourine Philanthropies partnered to analyze ALS funding and research. This guide pinpoints where focused philanthropy can accelerate progress.
In 2024, the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins launched a transformative strategic planning initiative in partnership with SPARC. This collaborative effort produced a forward-looking strategic plan and operational roadmap to guide the center’s work over the next five to 10 years.
Through this process, the Packard Center articulated a renewed mission and vision that reflect its deep commitment to advancing ALS research and its bold aspirations for improving the lives of individuals affected by the disease.
Grounded in rigorous research and expert insight, SPARC’s approach included in-depth landscape analysis, benchmarking, and interviews with key opinion leaders. These insights informed a series of collaborative working group meetings and strategic future-planning sessions, which shaped each element of the strategic plan and operational implementation plans. The result is a clear, actionable strategy designed to accelerate discovery, strengthen the Packard Center’s position in the ALS ecosystem, and deliver lasting impact.
