Infrastructure, Readiness, and Resilience: A Long-Term, Biomedical Systems-Based Response to COVID-19 Report

							The COVID-19 pandemic undoubtedly challenged our biomedical research and health-care systems. Multiple sectors aligned strategies and tactics to lessen the disease’s impact and financial fallout, showcasing how coordinated, intentional investment can strengthen our research and health systems to better withstand future crises.
In this report, SPARC highlights what lessons were learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and how these learnings can serve as the foundation for coordinated, intentional philanthropy. Notably, the report identifies four main areas ripe for greater and more efficient philanthropic investment:
- product development acceleration
- clinical trial design and execution
- research collaboration
- racial and ethnic disparities in health care and medicine
